Why E' Homai

Each Lomi session begins with a pule or prayer, in chant form.   You will hear it when you come, so you may want to know....what is going on ??

One of many that I learned on a recent workshop is “e ho mai” which means let it come, let it flow.

It is not an ancient chant, but has a timeless sentiment.  Hawaiians use it to grant them wisdom and knowledge, letting things come into their lives and letting it flow.  If you go to Maui for example, and ascend to the top of Mt.
Haleakalā, you will hear Hawaiians recite this chant at the rise of the sun.

The Hawaiian chant can compare to a Hindu Sanskrit mantra, which for you possibly can relate to if  you study yoga.

These days, I find myself more and more drawn into some types of ancient wisdoms and knowledge from around the world.  The very nature and practice of Kahuna bodywork predates all modern medical knowledge yet it remains powerful, and highly effective. One of the most profound types of bodywork to be experienced.

The importance of this chant resonates in my mind while listening and chanting “e ho mai”.  There is constant awareness of breath, mind and body, letting things come to me during my session and letting them flow out.

This simple chant is versatile; it calls upon mana or divine power to bring wisdom and understanding.

E homai Ka ‘ike mai luna mai e
O na mea huna no’eau
O na mele e
E homai
E homai
E homai

Return me …
Return me to the wisdoms of the Ages …
Return me to everything I knew …
Return me to what is above …
Return me to what is hidden below …
Return me to what seems insignificant …
Return me to my joys, my songs …
Return me to the turnings of time …
Return me to everything that I know …
Return me to my birthright …
Return me to my strength …
Return me …
Return me …
Return me …

Let it come, let it flow is an excellent reminder that one can feel happiness and feel great.  Knowing this I can always let things come into my life, learn and gain knowledge, then let it go. I can take what I need from the experiences and one day share with others if they are interested, or even listen and learn from other people and of course nature.

Aloha

    About Me

I write about things that I myself need to be mindful of.  ways in which I would like to improve.  It is not from the perspective of preaching - but rather writing helps me work out what I myself need to do - we are all in this together.
