NCBTMB Approved Massage Training & CEU Continuing Education
Would you like to discover a way of working that ignites passion? Would you like to bring a more spiritual connection to your work? Would you like to create and deliver an elevated experience to your clients?
Healing Hands Massage Trainings are for anyone who wants to learn to access their own healing legacy.
My goal with theses courses is to help massage therapists thrive and grow in their touch skills and succeed in accessing and mastering their own inner healing legacy
Developing and Extraordinary Quality of Touch
Course Description This 2 day hands-on course is designed to help experienced therapists improve their individual quality of touch skills. Through the incorporation of movement, conscious breathing, awareness, focus, manipulating limbs with grace, developing “soft hands”, making contact - maximizes the effectiveness of the treatment and improves the practitioners confidence and job satisfaction.
Bodywork and Massage Therapy Continuing Education is heavily weighted towards new “modalities” and ways to touch, very little attention seems to be focused on “how” to touch, including cultivating awareness, listening to the body, how to move, manipulating limbs with grace, developing “soft hands”, making contact – really “feeling” what you are doing and responding in real time.
Massage is like a dance, between the receiver and the giver – learn to dance with grace and fluidity. When we are at ease in our own bodies, that energy is transferred to our clients and can be felt – optimizing your client’s ability to relax and receive the work. Body mechanics is often presented with the focus of self-care and career longevity. Complete with stern warnings about precision placement of feet, posture. How many times have you been so focused on your body that you forget about the body on your table?
Cultivating a presence and awareness are key elements of really superior bodywork. The focus of this class will be on how to work, not learning new techniques. It is about refining the work that is already inside you, not copying something new. Thus for every student the outcome may be different.
Drawing upon some of the elements of Lomi Lomi, like Ka´aleleau (flying) and Hana ka Lima (working with hands) you will learn how to add grace, fluidity and the aloha spirit to your work These principles will be reinforced by experiential exercises in class, demonstration, observation as well as ample hands-on practice.
This highly individualized course is limited to 6 students so individual attention can be given to each.
Who should take this course? Anyone who wishes to improve their skills and quality of touch. I have often heard from prospective students things like "this sounds like a great course but I been practicing for 10 years, so it's not for me. This is the ego talking and it takes a lot to set aside the ego and admit that there are still ways to improve and things to learn. Moreover many seasoned therapists feel stagnated in their work, and this course allows them to fall in love with massage all over again. The average tenure of students attending this course is 15 years. However if you are newer or relatively new you can also benefit greatly. I do have a similar course aimed at very new licensees called Swedish 2.0 so either would be a good option for newer therapists.
Learning Objectives This course refines existing techniques and practices of the individual students, It introduces limited new material but rather focuses on improving existing techniques with an eye toward maximizing the experience for the client on the table. Students will learn specialized movement meditations and some new techniques for manipulating limbs. Students are challenged to the concept of improving their own unique quality of touch.
